Do I Really Have To Bring In A Fecal...?
We recommend checking a fecal on your canine or feline companion at minimum once each year, however, the CAPC actually recommends checking a fecal 1-2 times per year for adult canine or feline companions!
Why? The prevelance of exposure for our canine and feline companions is high and the recurring develpmental stages of parasites can repopulate the intestine!
You're probably asking yourself how your pet, which lives in a nice neighborhood could be exposed to parasites? Exposure can occur simply by having your pet drink from a puddle of standing water when you're out for a walk, biting items on the ground or from fleas!
It's not the most pleasant task to collect a fecal sample, but the simple step of having one checked is the best way to prevent your family from exposure to something that could be easily prevented!
