4. Jennifer Periat
DVM
Dr Periat has wanted to be a vet for as long as she can remember. While growing up, she had a lot of pets (whatever she could talk her parents into). She was also an active member in 4-H, including raising and showing bunnies and other animals. Sure of her career path, she only applied to one college, MSU. During undergrad there, she got her first bearded dragon, Gwenny, and her love of reptiles was soon born. While attending MSU, she made sure to further her exotics education by taking part in special externships and participating in projects, etc. Dr Periat started at Parkway in 2005, and she quickly felt she had found her home in veterinary medicine. The wonderful mix of cat, dog and exotics medicine has allowed her career to blossom over the years. This has led her into pursuing advanced ultrasound training and attending conferences to further her exotics education. Dr. Periat is often a guest lecturer at MSU, speaking about exotics medicine, and has even taken a trip to the Caribbean to lecture at Ross University! She shares her home with her animals-goofy dogs, an old lady kitty and a variety of exotic pets. While not at work, you may find her spending time with friends and family, reading, traveling to exciting places, running races or competing at Crossfit competitions!

As time passed so did her tour of positions within the hospital. As she gradually learned the duties and routine of a receptionist, veterinary assistant and administrative assistant, she found that she naturally gravitated towards management versus developing a medical skill base. As the hospital continued to grow and develop, the levels of providing complete and individual care for every client and patient has presented a unique opportunity for Dana to develop a new skill set as the hospitals Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). Amber has been a part of the Parkway and Chesterfield team since December of 2010. She graduated from the MCC Veterinary Technician program and became licensed in 2008. She really strives in making our clients feel like family and making them comfortable enough to be able to come to us with whatever they need, no matter how small. Maintaining this trust and relationships with our clients is something that she hopes she can bring to everyone whether it be with a laugh, a therapy session, or a shoulder to cry on. In her free time she gets out daily life stress by running outside and gymming, but never stays too healthy to not enjoy a good bowl of her favorite potato salad. Her favorite thing to do is to spend time with her niece and brand new baby nephew. At home she loves the companionship of her 3 kitties, her Pomeranian named "Little Richard", and her handsome bearded dragon named "Quentin" or "Q" for short! Her dream since a little girl was to always own her very own Dalmatian, so it was fate when she fell in love with her boyfriend who just happened to be a Firefighter. She was born in MI but has been raised a diehard cheesehead, which obviously means football takes up a very good portion of her life too!

In fact, Diana's mom still has her elementary school journal in which she wrote her aspirations to become a veterinarian (now mind you, she butchered the spelling, and also drew a very comical stick figure drawing of herself and a dog). Once Diana reached high school she began researching the field, and felt that becoming a licensed veterinary technician would better suit her desire for helping & caring for animals. In 2013, Diana graduated from Baker College of Clinton Township as an LVT and has been happily employed with Parkway Small Animal & Exotic Hospital ever since!
