Dr Periat has wanted to be a vet for as long as she can remember. While growing up, she had a lot of pets (whatever she could talk her parents into). She was also an active member in 4-H, including raising and showing bunnies and other animals. Sure of her career path, she only applied to one college, MSU. During undergrad there, she got her first bearded dragon, Gwenny, and her love of reptiles was soon born. While attending MSU, she made sure to further her exotics education by taking part in special externships and participating in projects, etc. Dr Periat started at Parkway in 2005, and she quickly felt she had found her home in veterinary medicine. The wonderful mix of cat, dog and exotics medicine has allowed her career to blossom over the years. This has led her into pursuing advanced ultrasound training and attending conferences to further her exotics education. Dr. Periat is often a guest lecturer at MSU, speaking about exotics medicine, and has even taken a trip to the Caribbean to lecture at Ross University! She shares her home with her animals-goofy dogs, an old lady kitty and a variety of exotic pets. While not at work, you may find her spending time with friends and family, reading, traveling to exciting places, running races or competing at Crossfit competitions!
